Gemini

GenAI 2026

goal
Using exclusively Google Gemini's generative AI (i.e. no photoshop or outside tools), I generated a set of matchboxes as an advertisement for my portfolio.
My name is Alex Burmeister, so I used the matchboxes to spell out my name, one matchbox for each letter. To stay on brand, I used the six main colors from my logo. Finally, to add a bit of personal flare, I embedded small symbols into the letterforms as subtle nods to projects in my portfolio.
CHALLENGES

1. Generate 14 matchboxes, each displaying a single letter, arranged in the correct order to spell out “Alex Burmeister.”
2. Structure the name across the boxes using the segmentation: ALEX–BUR–MEI–STER, reflecting its pronunciation.
3. Include several open matchboxes, revealing white-tipped matches inside the drawers.
4. Arrange the matchboxes in a knolling-style grid, aligned at 90-degree angles for a clean flat-lay composition.
5. Arrange the full composition so the matchboxes collectively form a square from an overhead view.
6. Apply my portfolio color palette, with each matchbox rendered in a single monochrome color.
7. Style all elements so the letterforms and symbols feel unified: geometric, graphic, and cohesive.
8. Incorporate a single symbol on select matchboxes that reflects themes from my portfolio.
9. Integrate the symbol so it is embedded within the letterform on its respective box.
10. Ensure the overall composition embodies the Alex Burmeister style: bold, geometric, and colorful.
